Russian occupiers have once again hit the Southern Bridge in Kyiv, the capital’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, reported.
“Another strike on the Southern Bridge. Let me remind you that after several enemy attacks, the bridge is currently closed to road traffic and the metro. Emergency services are heading to the scene,” the statement said.
- Yesterday, the Russians for the first time carried out a targeted attack on the Northern Bridge, which connects Kyiv’s left and right banks.
- They initially aimed at the supports, then at the road surface. The ‘green’ metro line runs across the bridge and was the only one operating during yellow alerts. As of the morning of 2 October, traffic in Kyiv was partially restricted on two bridges. The Southern Bridge was completely closed. Overnight, Russia attacked the Southern Bridge at least four times.
- Following a meeting of the Kyiv Defence Council, Vitali Klitschko said the metro is ready to resume services across the Southern Bridge after a series of enemy attacks, but only after receiving an expert assessment of the structure’s condition from research institutes.
