Germany and the Netherlands have significantly deepened intelligence-sharing to counter hybrid threats and are stepping up support for Ukraine’s defence.

Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten said this during a visit to the 1st German-Netherlands Corps in Münster, according to Ukrinform.

The head of the Dutch government stressed that the partnership helps protect Ukraine from Russian aggression and strengthen security in Europe. He said Russia poses an ever greater threat to NATO. For years, Moscow has been putting pressure on the Baltic states, while in the North Sea its shadow fleet operates with impunity.

Jetten emphasised that European countries must take responsibility for their own protection and develop defence production. In particular, companies in the Netherlands and Germany are already jointly producing air defence systems.

The Prime Minister also added that from 1 July the headquarters of the joint German-Netherlands Corps has been responsible for the defence of Estonia and Latvia and helps cover their 700-kilometre border with Russia. He had previously confirmed that assistance to Ukraine remains his government’s top priority, and that international pressure on the Russian Federation must only increase.
