Agents of the ATESH partisan movement carried out reconnaissance of the Military Academy of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation’s Air Defence Forces, named after Marshal of the Soviet Union Aleksandr Vasilevsky, in Smolensk.
This is reported by the ATESH partisan movement.
The academy trains not only regular cadets. It also runs accelerated courses for new air defence specialists who have just signed a contract. In addition, the academy operates retraining programmes under which service personnel upgrade their qualifications or change their military specialisation before being sent to the front.
The institution produces commanders and specialists for the Tor, Buk, Pantsir, Igla and Verba systems, which are used to provide cover for Russian troops, convoys and depots.
During their surveillance, the agents recorded training activity on the academy grounds, the movement of service vehicles and a heightened security regime around the perimeter.
Particular attention was paid to access routes, training buildings, barracks, the vehicle park and elements of the facility’s external power supply.
ATESH said the information gathered made it possible to уточнити the location of key areas of the academy, the activity schedule and the overall security layout. According to them, the information was passed to the Defence Forces.
In addition, ATESH agents left leaflets around the academy’s grounds calling on cadets, service personnel and local residents to join the movement.
