Moldova’s Border Police have reported that a bus was damaged by a shell near the Palanca–Mayaky-Udobne checkpoint on the border with Ukraine.

As the police press service writes, today, 5 October, an incident occurred in the area of the Palanca–Mayaky-Udobne crossing point following Russia’s attack on Ukrainian infrastructure.

They said that at around 09:38 a shell fell near the Palanca crossing point and, after striking the ground, ricocheted into a bus parked by the barrier.

According to preliminary information, the shell damaged the bus and the booth, and a Border Police officer sustained minor injuries. No other casualties have been reported.

Operations at the crossing point were suspended. 

The Border Police, together with the Customs Service, are monitoring the situation and remain in contact with the competent authorities in Ukraine.
