On the night of 5 October, Russia launched a large-scale attack on Odesa Region. Industrial and port infrastructure, as well as a holiday-home area, came under fire.
No one was injured. Large fires broke out at the strike sites, the head of the Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, reported.
“Large fires broke out. Due to heavy smoke, specialists from the Odesa State Emergency Service’s radiation, chemical and biological protection unit carried out an inspection of the area. The measurements found no hazardous substances,” the statement said.
As of 8am, all fires had been extinguished. Firefighters worked in extremely difficult conditions, with repeated air-raid alerts.
More than 90 firefighters from the State Emergency Service and the Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Ukraine were involved in dealing with the aftermath.
