Former defence minister Mykhailo Fedorov has announced that Starlink has been restored for Ukrainian troops at speeds of up to 160 kilometres per hour. He said this in a Telegram post on the evening of 14 October.

Strike drones and interceptor drones should now be able to fly again, he said. He did not specify the details of the agreement.

“Now we need to work on removing the speed limit for Starshield altogether (SpaceX’s military satellite system for secure communications and operating specialised equipment. — Ed.),” the former minister commented.

During his time in government, Fedorov maintained direct contact with Elon Musk, who heads SpaceX.

The military reported the shutdown at speeds of 160 km/h on the morning of 14 October. This disrupted some planned missions and created difficulties in repelling Russian drone attacks.
