This year, Ukraine is expected to harvest around 80 million tonnes of grain and oilseeds, of which approximately 60 million tonnes are intended for export.

This was reported by Taras Vysotskyi, head of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

At the same time, due to restricted access to Black Sea ports, the country can use only about half of its export potential in the agricultural sector. Additional logistics costs amount to around €50 per tonne. As a result, Ukraine may fail to export more than 30 million tonnes of agricultural products in the current marketing season.

The ministry stressed that the Black Sea is a key route for global grain trade.

“The Black Sea region accounts for around 30% of global wheat demand. Disruptions to exports are driving up transport costs and food prices. In particular, wheat prices are 27% higher than in January 2026,” the ministry’s press service said.

In September, the country secured more than $35 million in international assistance for temporary grain storage. Procurement is under way for around 17,000 special polymer sleeves for storing the harvest.
