The 7th Corps of the Air Assault Forces continues its defensive operation on the Huliaipole front. Russian forces are trying to exploit the autumn weather to achieve local breakthroughs using infantry, motorbikes and armoured vehicles.

This was reported by the 7th Corps of the Air Assault Forces.

Opposing Ukrainian units in the corps’ area of responsibility are Russia’s 5th, 29th, 35th and 36th Combined Arms Armies, as well as the occupiers’ 68th Army Corps.

The enemy’s main tactic remains deep infiltration. The Russians are trying to operate in small infantry groups of between one and five people. To move infantry within the five-kilometre zone in front of the line of contact, they periodically use motorbikes.

Recently, in one sector, Ukrainian troops destroyed a group from Russia’s 22nd Separate Guards Special Purpose Brigade, subordinate to Russia’s GRU. This unit took part in the two Chechen wars and also carried out special tasks on Ukrainian territory in 2014–2022.

For a long time, the Russians also tried to build up armoured vehicles within a 20-kilometre zone of the line of contact.

Over the past week, as the weather worsened, the enemy began conducting local assaults involving infantry, motorbikes and armoured vehicles. In this way, the Russians are trying to speed up the fulfilment of their strategic objective — reaching the outskirts of Zaporizhzhia and blocking the regional centre.

According to intelligence, units of the 5th Tank Brigade, the 37th Motor Rifle Brigade and the 64th Separate Motor Rifle Brigade have completed training at ranges and are ready to operate using military equipment in the direction of the enemy’s main strike.

Ukrainian units are holding back the Russian advance and inflicting losses through coordinated action.

The 7th Corps notes that for Russia, the Huliaipole front is one of the key axes in southern Ukraine, so the enemy is committing sufficient manpower to fully replenish combat losses. Under these conditions, eliminating Russian occupiers is only one of the tasks for units in the corps’ area of responsibility.
