Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan to Hold Talks With Iran

The meeting will focus on regional security.

Senior officials from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan will hold talks in Tehran today, 26 October, focused on regional security. This was reported by the Iranian and Saudi sides, CBS News writes. Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey are members of the Mecca Defence Alliance — a military and political bloc formed this year, Anadolu adds.

The meeting will continue efforts to de-escalate between the parties involved in the current crisis, Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister for Public Diplomacy, Raed Krimli, said. The kingdom’s delegation to Iran is being led by Defence Minister Khalid bin Salman.

Pakistan will be represented by Army Chief Asim Munir, and Turkey by intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin. Iran will be represented in the talks by Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council.

The visitors are also expected to meet Iran’s president.

In a post on X, Raed Krimli said the aim of the meeting would be to advance dialogue and diplomatic solutions in support of mediation efforts by Qatar and Pakistan.
