Ukraine has requested an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council over the Russian attacks on 29 October on Dnipro, Kremenchuk and Chernihiv.
Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Andrii Melnyk, reported this on the social network X.
Melnyk signed a letter addressed to the President of the UN Security Council, currently held by Greece, asking for an extraordinary meeting to be convened over Russia’s “new wave of barbaric attacks” against Ukraine’s civilians.
“In light of Russia’s latest barbaric atrocities against Ukrainian civilians in Dnipro, Chernihiv and Kremenchuk, where Russian missiles deliberately killed 20 Ukrainians and wounded dozens of others, we are convening an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council,” Melnyk wrote.

He also noted that discussions at the UN have still not translated into concrete action: “Nevertheless, Ukraine will continue to use every platform at the UN — the Security Council, the General Assembly and the committees — so that the world can see that a real hell is unfolding in Ukraine,” Melnyk said.
- On 29 October, the Russian army attacked railway infrastructure in Dnipro. Fourteen people are known to have been killed and 14 wounded.
