On 30 October, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) upheld one of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation’s appeals and lifted the ban on Russian teams taking part in international competitions.

This is stated in the arbitration court’s official ruling.

According to the document, Russian national teams will be able to compete in five international tournaments:

  • The World Junior Championship in Canada – from 26 December 2026 to 5 January 2027.
  • The Women’s U18 World Championship in the Czech Republic – 8–16 January 2027.
  • The Men’s U18 World Championship in the United States – 22 April – 2 May 2027.
  • The Men’s World Championship in Germany – 14–30 May 2027.
  • The Women’s World Championship in Canada – in November 2027.

In January 2026, the International Ice Hockey Federation decided not to admit Russian teams to international competitions in the 2026/27 season, citing security concerns.

The Russian Ice Hockey Federation challenged the decision and filed three appeals. After one of the challenges, the ban was initially lifted, but later reinstated. After that, the Russian side turned to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
