Russia has extended a blanket ban on diesel fuel exports by producers until the end of January, while keeping the option to supply certain volumes to the global market.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that alongside the extension of the general ban, the government is preparing exemptions for certain suppliers, Bloomberg reports.
Similar relaxations were in place in October and are planned for November. Russia eased the terms of its export restrictions after US President Donald Trump said he was working with Putin to bring Russian diesel back to global markets.
According to Novak, in November Russia plans to export about 2.15 million tonnes of diesel fuel, compared with 510,000 tonnes shipped this month. He added that regular Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries could lead to a reduction in export volumes, although the decline would not be significant.
At the end of October, four tankers carrying Russian diesel had already departed from Baltic ports.
