Russia launched a massive strike on Ukraine overnight into 3 November, with the main target being energy infrastructure. Generation facilities and substations in nine regions came under fire.
President reported this on social media, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Because of the attacks, emergency and urgent power cuts are continuing in a number of cities and communities.
Russian forces attacked energy facilities in Odesa, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Chernivtsi, Chernihiv and Rivne regions.
Separately, the President reported a strike on a city clinical hospital in Kharkiv. As a result of the attack, 73 people were injured, and the cardiology department where patients were staying was damaged.
A rescue operation is also continuing in Komyshuvakha in Zaporizhzhia region, where the death toll from the Russian strike has risen to 29. Another five people were injured. People may still be trapped under the rubble.
Zelenskyy noted that search-and-rescue efforts are being hampered by the threat of repeat Russian strikes. In this night alone, Russia used 289 attack drones, 17 ballistic missiles and 59 cruise missiles.
Separately, Zelenskyy drew attention to the fact that the massive Russian strike fell on the day of the US congressional elections.
"It is very telling that all of this happened on the day of the American congressional elections. The Russians think America will not notice this signal of theirs. But such terror must be noticed and stopped," the head of state wrote.
He said the United States should not ignore this signal from Russia and urged it to continue helping Ukraine defend its airspace.
