Since overnight, one of the enemy’s largest attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure has been under way. As a result of today’s shelling, the situation in the power system has become even more complicated, Ukrenergo has warned.
Over the past day alone, the enemy deliberately attacked energy facilities more than 20 times, using an unprecedented number of weapons, which led to significant damage to the energy infrastructure. As DTEK later reported, Russia is striking both generation facilities, where electricity is produced, and substations through which it reaches homes.
There has been severe destruction in Dnipropetrovsk Region, with facilities hit in Odesa Region and other regions. The most difficult situation right now is in Kyiv. Due to extensive damage, emergency outages are continuing, and it is currently impossible to provide scheduled timetables.
As of 16:45, emergency power cuts are being imposed in a number of regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv.
Thousands of power engineers have been working since overnight to deal with the aftermath of the attacks and restore electricity supplies. Priority will be given to critical infrastructure facilities.
All services are working in constant coordination to stabilise the situation as quickly as possible.
Power engineers are doing everything possible to bring the lights back on.
People will be informed of any changes in the situation additionally.
