A fake claim is once again being circulated online about the supposed “adoption of a law to switch off mobile communications and the internet during air-raid alerts”.
This was reported by the Centre for Countering Disinformation.
Users are being urged to urgently connect an “autonomous system”, allegedly created by the government and mobile operators, so they are not left without missile alerts.
Links in such messages for selecting mobile network operators lead to the same anonymous Telegram channel featuring news and advertising.
The CCD stresses that in reality no decisions or laws have been adopted to restrict communications during alerts.
Law No. 395/2026, which the authors of the fake mention, concerns entirely different issues; such clickbait messages are simply a tool for inflating subscriber numbers.
“The aim of this manipulation is to exploit Ukrainians’ fear of being left without information about threats in order to grow the channels’ audiences and then make money from advertising,” the Centre added.
