Since the start of this year, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces have liberated more than two dozen settlements in three regions of Ukraine.
This was stated by Ukraine’s Defence Minister Yevhenii Khmara on the occasion of the Air Assault Forces’ holiday.
“They have been fighting for Ukrainian land since 2014. From the first day of the full-scale war, they met the enemy and stood up to defend the South, Donbas and the Kyiv region. The 95th, 80th, 79th, 81st — Air Assault Forces warriors! Thanks to you, we are able to break through the enemy’s defences, successfully assault and hold our lines,” the head of the Defence Ministry emphasised.
The minister also noted that the paratroopers are equipped with drones, artillery and armoured vehicles, but the Air Assault Forces’ main strength remains its people.
“But the main strength is in the people — professional, brave and resilient. This year alone, Air Assault Forces units have liberated more than two dozen settlements in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions. Behind these operations are meticulous planning, clear and coordinated work by units, high-quality training and the determination of our servicemen.
Thank you to the Air Assault Forces for the daily destruction of the aggressor. Happy holiday to everyone who has wings on their shoulders! Glory to the Air Assault Forces!” Yevhenii Khmara added.
- Last year, the date for marking Air Assault Forces Day was moved from 21 November to 8 November. The relevant decree was signed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The new date was chosen so that the holiday would coincide with Archangel Michael’s Day, which is observed on 8 November under the Revised Julian calendar. Archangel Michael is considered the patron of the military.
