Ukraine initiates trilateral gas talks with Russia
Kyiv is ready to EU-Ukraine-Russia negotiations
Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Igor Nasalik has sent a letter to the European Commission, which says that Ukraine is ready to participate in tripartite talks on gas with Russia with the participation of the European Commission.
"Yesterday, we informed the management of the EC's readiness to take part in the negotiations in the trilateral format Ukraine-EU-Russia in the gas sector at all convenient Brussels time. In a letter to the vice-president of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič, the minister emphasized the important role that the EC should play in de-politicization of gas relations between Ukraine and Russia, and said the ministry’s relations in the gas sector should continue the trilateral format," Director of the Department of Planning and European Integration of the Ministry of Energy Mykhailo Bno-Hayriyan wrote on his Facebook page.
Gazprom does not supply gas to Ukraine from 25 November 2015, as Naftogaz says the price was too high.
Q2 2016 Russian gas is sold for less than 180 dollars per thousand cubic meters, but Ukraine insists that the price should be reduced to 160-170 dollars.
