Prosecutors seize property worth 480m hryvnia of former chief tax cop

Arrested assets include cars, cottage township, several restaurants and fancy shops on Kyiv's main drag.

Prosecutor-General's Office conducted an inventory of the property and arrested the assets of a former first deputy chairman of the State Tax Service - Head of the Tax Police Andriy Holovach, and his family, the website of the PGO reported on 14 September.

"The investigation is underway on the facts of legalization (laundering of proceeds from crime) the illegal reimbursement of VAT to companies previously controlled by the criminal organization of ex-officials of Yanukovych, Azarov, Klimenko, worth more than 3nn hryvnia," the release said.

The properties in question have legalized by the suspect, including on his family members.

In particular, investigators inventoried and seized six cars, ostensibly owned the son of the suspect, a cottage township owned by the relatives of the suspect, a few restaurants and luxury clothing shops on Khreshchatyk St., also registered to family members of the ex-official.

The estimated cost of the seized property is at 480m hryvnya, of which 468m hryvnya is real estate, and 10m hryvnya - movable property.

On August 9, members of the military prosecutor's office and security services reported detaining and searching the properties of Col. Gen. Andriy Holovach.
