In the course of the visit to Israel, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and visited the Church of the Holy Sepulture.
"Your prayers are very important for Ukraine," the president's press service quoted Poroshenko as saying.
Petro Poroshenko thanked His Beatitude for the support of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem to the aspirations of Ukrainians to unite in a single national Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church.
In his turn, Patriarch Theophilos III noted that "the mission of Church is to unite, not divide".
He informed that he prayed for peace in Ukraine.
Poroshenko invited Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem to visit Ukraine.
