The United States does not plan to join the "Normandy format" (France, Germany, Ukraine, Russia) negotiations on the settlement of the situation in Donbas, US Ambassador to Uraine Marie Yovanovitch said in the air of Radio Svoboda.
"I do not think there are plans for the US accession to the "Normandy format". This does not mean, however, that the US is not active at the diplomatic level. We are cooperating with Ukraine, ar ein consultations with France and Germany. Periodically, we also meet with the Russians to see whether there is a path to constructive development process. This is our support of the Normandy Four format," she said.
When asked why the US do not join any of the formats of negotiations on Donbass settlement - nor "Normandy" nor "Minsk", Yovanovitch said: "I think we support Ukraine in other ways and are very active in this support, we are in constant contact with the Ukrainian authorities, and likewise with our partners in France and Germany."
On October 19, the Normandy Four leaders met in Berlin. The summit decided to develop a roadmap for the implementation of provisions of Minsk agreements. If the parties agree on the level of foreign ministers and advisers, another summit will take place before the end of the year to approve the roadmap.
