Verkhovna Rada on 15 November called on the European Parliament and the European Council to take all decisions necessary for the provision of the EU visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens before the end of the year.
The adoption of the draft resolution №5394 was backed by 261 MPs.
The Rada also asked the governments of the EU member states to support the legislative proposal of the European Commission on the introduction of a visa-free regime for short trips of citizens of Ukraine to EU countries
The legislators reminded that Ukraine has fulfilled its obligations under the action plan for liberalization of EU visa regime for Ukraine.
President Petro Poroshenko has said that Ukraine has fulfilled all 144 requirements of the European Union to obtain visa-free regime. He expressed hope that the EU will cancel visas for Ukrainians at the EU-Ukraine Summit in Brussels on 24 November.
