The head of the State Fiscal Service (SFS), Roman Nasirov, has admitted that amber royalties are not working today.
"Legal amber mining in Ukraine should be done by two or three state-owned enterprises: Ukrpolimer, Ukrburshtyn, and I don’t remember if there is a third one. Thus only they can pay royalties. To pay them, they have to mine amber. But it is not being mined (legally – ed.note) and royalties are not paid," Nasirov said.
According to him, the SFS has no leverage over the situation.
"As the SFS chief, you cannot solve all the problems in the state," he said.
