The former head of the State Fiscal Service, Roman Nasirov, has been released on bail in the amount of UAH 55 million, the Anti-Corruption Action Centre reports.
From now on, he must appear in court when summoned, not leave Kyiv without a court order, refrain from communicating with persons specified in the court order, surrender all passports for travelling abroad, and wear a bracelet.
The bail is valid until 7 July 2024.
Earlier, Nasirov's defence requested that bail be set at UAH 22 million. It was reported that Nasirov's wife and a partner of the law firm had already deposited the money to the HACC account.
Nasirov has been in custody for a year and a half. In October 2022, he was taken into custody with a bail of UAH 523 million. Since then, the measure of restraint has been repeatedly extended, but the bail has been reduced almost tenfold.
- Nasirov is accused of allegedly taking a bribe of UAH 722 million for VAT refunds to companies owned by agribusiness tycoon Oleh Bakhmatyuk.
- In October 2022, the NABU and the SAPO announced that they had served Roman Nasirov and Oleh Bakhmatyuk, the owner of the agricultural holding, with a suspicion notice in the case of receiving $5.5 million and more than €21 million in undue benefits for VAT refunds to the companies of the agricultural holding. According to the official NBU exchange rate at the time of the crime, the amount of money involved was over UAH 722 million.
- On 1 October 2022, he was arrested, and since then, his detention in the pre-trial detention centre has been extended every day.
