SBU officers, with the assistance of the Minister of Defence and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, detained the chief psychiatrist of the Armed Forces, who is the Deputy Head of the Central Military Qualification Commission and decides on the fitness of military personnel for service. This was reported by the SBU press service. According to RBC-Ukraine, it is Oleh Druz.
According to the case file, this official acquired unjustified assets worth more than USD 1 million during the full-scale invasion.
At the same time, the defendant did not disclose the relevant property in his declaration and registered it in the names of his wife, daughter, sons and other unauthorised persons.
According to the investigation, during 2022-2024, the suspect acquired
- a private house in Obukhiv district of Kyiv Region;
- 2 apartments in Kyiv;
- 1 apartment in Odesa;
- 2 land plots in Obukhiv district of Kyiv Region;
- BMW X7 2024;
- BMW X7 2022;
- BMW X5 2023;
- BMW X3 2022;
- as well as other property.
During the searches, SBU investigators also found $152,000 and €34,000.
A notice of suspicion is currently being prepared to the suspect under the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Art. 368-5 (illicit enrichment);
- Art. 366-2 (declaration of false information).
The issue of choosing a measure of restraint and seizure of the official's assets is being decided.
The sanction of the articles provides for a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
In 2017, the then Minister of Defence Stepan Poltorak dismissed Colonel Oleh Druz, the head of the psychiatry clinic of the National Military Medical Clinical Centre Main Military Clinical Hospital. A scandal erupted around Druz when he stated at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Health that most combatants needed psychiatric care after demobilisation. After that, some fighters claimed that they had been insulted.
