During a session with selected journalists in the Oval Office, where Donald Trump signed executive orders, the US President addressed questions about the war in Ukraine.
According to the BBC, Trump was reminded of his campaign promise to end the conflict within a day. In response, he remarked, “Only half a day has passed since my inauguration, and we’ll see.”
Trump also expressed his belief that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy “wants to end the war with a deal.”
Referring to Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Trump stated, “He is destroying Russia without making a deal,” as reported by Voice of America.
“I think Russia has big problems. Just look at the inflation in Russia… I would hope that he wants to make a deal,” Trump added.
