Over the past day, Donbas militants waged 39 attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops in the zone of the antiterrorist operation in Donbas.

Two soldiers were wounded in militant fire raids, the ATO press center reported on Facebook on 4 January.

In the Mariupol sector, terrorists fired mortars at Shyrokyne. They repeatedly pounded Shyrokyne, Pavlopil, Maryinka and Vodyane with AFV weapons and rocket-propelled grenades. Enemy snipers were reportedly active in the areas of Shyrokyne and Talakivka.

Novozvanivka, Lugansk Region was under fire of rocket-propelled grenades and small arms during the day.

In the Donetsk sector, the enemy fired 82-mm mortars at Luhanske, and used rocket-propelled grenades and small arms firing at the positions of Ukrainian military in the areas of Mayorske, Zaitseve, Luhanske, Avdiyivka and Pisky.

On Tuesday, 3 January, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria, Sebastian Kurz, who is the chairman of the OSCE, visited Donbas and outlined the organisation's priorities for Ukraine.
