Over the past day, militants 54 times shelled the positions of Ukrainian troops in the zone of the antiterrorist operation in Donbass. One Ukrainian soldier was wounded, the press center of the ATO reported on Facebook on 23 February.
In the Mariupol sector, the enemy used portable rocket launchers Grad Partizan, 122-mm artillery and mortars of various calibres to shell Vodyane. Lebedynske and Shrokyno were under mortar fire. Militants fired heavy machine guns and small arms at Hnutove, Vodyane, Shyrokyne and Pavlopil.
In the Donetsk sector, militants shelled Luhanske, Troyitske and Zaitseve with the mortars of various calibres. They fired grenade launchers of various systems and small arms at Avdiyivka, Opytne, Pisky, Zaitseve and Luhanske, which also came under the fire of an enemy IFV.
In the Luhansk sector, Novozvanivka was shelled with 120-mm mortars and rocket-propelled grenades.
20 February was supposed to mark the beginning of a new ceasefire and withdrawal of weapons, agreed at the last meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk. The ATO headquarters, however, reported that militants continued shelling, although with a decreased intensity.
