Investigating prosecutors are conducting searches in the town hall of Kryvyy Rih, Prosecutor-General Yuriy Lutsenko said on Facebook on 2 March.
"The city council of Kryvyy Rih, homes and business offices of the executives and owners of companies involved in the legalization of 200mn hryvnyas allocated from the national budget in 2016 are being searched at this very moment," Lutsenko said.
The prosecutors are checking mayor Yuriy Vilkul, his deputies Yevhen Udod and Oleksandr Katrychenko, other local councillors and entrepreneurs for possible involvement in embezzlement, Lutsenko said.
