Over the past day, Russia-backed militants 117 times fired at the positions of Ukrainian troops in the zone of the antiterrorist operation in Donbas, killing two soldiers and wounding one, the press center of the ATO reported via Facebook on 1 March.
In the Mariupol sector, the enemy pounder Vodyane with 122- mm artillery. Hnutove, Shyrokyne, Pavlopil, Vodyane were pounded with mortars. Militants fired rocket-propelled grenades, heavy machine guns and small arms at Krasnohorivka, Talakivka, Pavlopil, Hnutove.
Shyrokyne and Novotroyitska were under sniper fire. An IFV fired at Maryinka.
In the Donetsk sector, enemy tanks shelled the mine Butivka, Verhnyotoretske and Novhorodske.
Militants shelled Luhanske and Troyitske with 152-mm artillery, and Pisky, Zaitseve, Troyitske, Novoluhanske, Kamyanka, Avdiyivka, Opytne, Novotoshkivske and Luhanske with 120- and 82-mm mortars. They fired rocket-propelled grenades, heavy machine guns and small arms at Zaitseve, Verhnyotoretske, Nevelske, Bohdanivka, Avdiyivka and Luhanske.
Luhanske was under the fire of an IFV weapons.
In the Luhansk sector, 152-mm artillery fired at Krymske, while Popasna, Orikhove, Novozvanivka, Novooleksandrivka and Krymske were under the fire of mortars of various calibres. The enemy fired small arms at Stanytsa Luhanska and Novooleksandrivka. A sniper was active in the vicinity of Zhovte. Enemy infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers shelled Novozvanivka.
The United States at UN Security Council on Tuesday once again called on Russia and the separatists to cease fire in eastern Ukraine.
