PGO set to involve FBI, Scotland Yard in examination of Saakashvili tapes
Prosecutors have enough evidence incriminating Saakashvili.
The Prosecutor-General's Office is ready to engage the US Federal Bureau of Investigation and UK Scotland Yard in conducting an examination of tapped telephone conversations between the former president of Georgia, the leader of the political party Movement of New Forces Mikheil Saakashvili and tycoon Serhiy Kurchenko.
"Foreign experts from the FBI or Scotland Yard together with our experts will check the authenticity of these tapes," chief prosecutor Yuriy Lutsenko said on ICTV channel on Monday.
He said that the Prosecutor-General's Office has enough evidence incriminating Saakashvili.
Earlier, Lutsenko stated that the investigation obtained evidence indicating the transfer of 500 thousand dollars from fugitive Ukrainian tycoon Serhiy Kurchenko to Saakashvili's people.
Kurchenko allegedly agreed to sponsor the leader of the Movement of the New Forces in exchange for the return of his assets that he lost after fleeing to Moscow.
