Kyiv’s Obolonskyy district court has rejected the request of ex-President Viktor Yanukovych’s defence to question President Petro Poroshenko again. Presiding judge Vladyslav Devyatko said the request was “fully unjustified”.
“The court once again noted that yesterday the defence had a unique opportunity to ask all the questions but for some reason the defence did not use it, abusing its procedural rights,” he said.
Poroshenko was questioned for around 60 minutes on 21 February. The president did not have a chance to say much on the essence of the case because the majority of questions put by the defence were irrelevant and thus overruled.
Judge Devyatko blamed the defence for this.
Kyiv’s Obolonskyy district court is hearing the high treason case of ex-President Viktor Yanukovych. In 2014, Poroshenko was a member of the Ukrainian parliament.
