The Health Ministry has not yet established the cause of the mass poisoning of school children in Cherkasy on 8 May.

"Yesterday, the last children and adults remaining in hospital in Cherkasy went home. Most of the children who were in the hospital had no effects of poisoning, but had other health problems, so doctors decided to monitor their condition. So far, tests have not showed any results which could help us understand what happened. There was a toxic reaction to inhalation contacts with an unknown substance. We took the samples of soil, water and air for analysis in the Cherkasy Regional Laboratory Centre of the Health Ministry, the Institute of Chemical Toxicology is also analysing them, but until now the problem is not clear," Health Minister Ulana Suprun told LB.ua

Over 50 children got poisoned with an unknown substance at an outdoor event in Cherkasy secondary school No 8 on 8 May. They felt sick and some blacked out.

The main scenario under consideration is the use of an unknown gas substance. The Security Service of Ukraine does not rule out an act of sabotage.
