The secretary of the National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) of Ukraine, Oleksandr Turchynov, has said Ukraine is preparing sanctions against the masterminds of the so-called "elections" in the self-proclaimed Luhansk and Donetsk people's republics (LPR/DPR) and Ukrainian enterprises which cooperate with the Russian defence industry.
"The NSDC is drafting a new package of sanctions, while the cabinet and the security service are preparing proposals. Parliament has already submitted its proposals. And I am convinced this will be a powerful package of diverse sanctions, including against those who led, inspired and organized the fake so-called 'elections' in the occupied territory, as well as against a wide range of Ukrainian enterprises cooperating with Russia's defense industry and strengthening their security and defense," Turchynov said at the Kyiv Armour Plant on 15 November.
Turchynov did not rule out that the list will include individuals from certain EU states, who "for provocative reasons pretended that they were observing fake illegal elections in the occupied territory".
He noted that it is not only on the battlefield that Ukraine repels Russian aggression.
"Of course, this is also about the technology of sanctions, technology of limiting any support for the Russian industry, not only their defence industry," Turchynov said.
