The spokesperson for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Kateryna Zelenko, has announced Ukraine's official position on the US recognition of Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

"The UN Security Council repeatedly discussed the issue of the Golan Heights, adopting relevant decisions, including Resolutios No 242 in 1967, No 465 in 1980 and No 497 in 1981. Our state continues to consistently call for a comprehensive peaceful settlement in the Middle East with regard to the lawful security interests of Israel," the statement published on the Foreign Ministry's website reads.

Ukraine is guided by the UN Charter and UN Security Council resolutions, it added.
