Border situation

Russia is moving more tanks near the border with Ukraine, defense-intelligence firm Janes said, according to Bloomberg.

"At least a battalion of T-80U main battle tanks were deployed to a railway station in the Voronezh region, according to social-media footage from Nov. 7, London-based Janes said in an analysis provided to Bloomberg News. The tanks appear headed for the Pogonovo training ground, the same one where a Russian military buildup in the spring sparked western demands for a pullback, according to Janes," it said.

NSDC meeting

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy convenes a meeting of the National Security and Defence Council on 10 November. According to Interfax-Ukraine, the meeting will focus on the situation in the energy sector and in the eastern and northern sectors of the Ukrainian border.

War criminal arrested

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained a former Donetsk separatist, Denys Kulykovskyy (Palych), who was in charge of the illegal prison Isolation in Donetsk where he tortured and beat people held by the separatists.

The arrest was carried out in Kyiv.

New MPs

The Central Electoral Commission has declared Serhiy Kozyr, Vitaliy Voytsekhovskyy and Serhiy Kostriychuk new MPs following by-elections and a recent government reshuffle.

Coronavirus

The National Police have suspended 405 unvaccinated employees, according to its chief Ihor Klymenko.

Cherkasy Region will join the red quarantine zone as of 12 November.

On the morning of 9 November, Ukraine reported 18,988 new Covid-19 cases and the record-high daily number of deaths, 833.

Ukraine removed from EU green list

Following a review under the recommendation on the gradual lifting of the temporary restrictions on non-essential travel into the EU, the Council updated the list of countries, special administrative regions and other entities and territorial authorities for which travel restrictions should be lifted. In particular Singapore and Ukraine were removed from the list.
