Ukraine and the USA have signed an updated Strategic Partnership Charter at the meeting of the Strategic Partnership Commission co-chaired by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

"The United States supports Ukraine in countering Russian aggression and defending our sovereignty and territorial integrity. We are grateful for the willingness of our American partners to further expand security and defence cooperation with Ukraine. The best way to deter an aggressive Russia is to let the Kremlin know that Ukraine is strong and will not be left alone with an aggressor. This is exactly the signal we sent to Moscow today," Kuleba said.

Border situation

Ukraine intends to double the number of border guards at the state border because of the threat of illegal migrants from Belarus entering the country, Interior Minister Denys Monastyrskyy has said, according to Interfax-Ukraine.

Minister out of the door?

Culture and Information Policy Minister Oleksandr Tkachenko will reportedly tender his resignation on the morning of 11 November after the Cabinet of Ministers decided to detach the State Film Agency from the Culture and Information Policy Ministry without his knowledge, Ukrayinska Pravda has reported.

More reshuffle

The Cabinet of Ministers has dismissed Mykola Chechotkin from the post of head of the State Emergencies Service. The Service will temporarily be headed by the chief of its main directorate in Rivne Region, Serhiy Kruk.

Coronavirus

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy hopes that the idea of universal vaccination can unite all Ukrainians.

He said in a video message on Telegram: "What will unite Ukrainians tomorrow who do not want these 40 million (population of Ukraine - ed.) to turn into 20? All of them will be vaccinated!"

"We are ready for everything and are provided with everything. There are 536 facilities, there are 76,000 beds, of which 72,000 are connected to oxygen. The medical system is as ready as ever, but we should not test this on ourselves," he added.

Poroshenko meets UK envoy

The fifth president of Ukraine, the leader of the European Solidarity Party party, Petro Poroshenko, has met British Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons.

They discussed issues related to overcoming current challenges, in particular, the concentration of Russian troops on the borders, the migration crisis on the eastern borders of the European Union, the threat of Russian gas revanche.

Former Interior Minister Arsen Avakov and the leader of the People's Front party, former Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, have denied reports that they were creating a joint political party with ex-speaker Dmytro Razumkov.

Energy

The Cabinet of Ministers has reversed its decision from 2014 to liquidate the national joint stock company Energy Company of Ukraine.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that the company would include state-owned coal mines and Tsentrenerho, which produces electricity at coal-fired thermal power plants.

Crime

A district court in Mariupol has put Donetsk separatist Denys Kulykovskyy in custody at least until 7 January, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has said. Kulykovskyy, who ran the notorious Isolation prison in Donetsk where non-separatists were tortured and abused, refused to talk to the press.

Borys Pavlov, a cousin of late Kryvyy Rih mayor Kostyantyn Pavlov, was found hanged in his house, police have said. Kostyantyn Pavlov was found dead on the porch of his house on 15 August.
