Riga City Council has decided to rename the street where the Russian Embassy is located, the street of Independence of Ukraine
This was announced by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Latvia Oleksandr Mishchenko.
"On March 4, deputies of the Riga City Council decided to rename the section of Antonias Street, which until now was the legal address of the Russian Embassy in Latvia, to the street of Independence of Ukraine. Thus, the legal address of the Russian Embassy in Latvia is the street of Independence of Ukraine," Mishchenko wrote.
He noted that the Riga authorities made such a decision to "express support for Ukraine's sovereignty, its territorial integrity, and its Euro-Atlantic aspirations, as well as to express support for the heroic struggle of the Ukrainian people against the Russian aggressor."
We will remind, the parliament of Latvia unanimously approved the decision "About granting to Ukraine the status of the country-candidate for accession to the European Union".
Latvia and 5 other countries have introduced illegal travel for carriers of humanitarian goods to Ukraine.
