In the Kharkiv region, near Chuguiv, the Ukrainian military have eliminated Major General of the Russian Army Vitaliy Gerasimov. This was reported by the Chief Directorate of Intelligence (CDI).
"During the fighting near Kharkiv, Vitaliy Gerasimov, a Russian military leader, major general, chief of staff and first deputy commander of the 41st Army of the Central Military District of Russia, was killed. A number of senior Russian officers were also killed and wounded," the statement said.
According to the CDI, Gerasimov took part in the Second Chechen war and the Russian military operation in Syria. He also received a medal "for the return of Crimea."
Audio data intercepted by Ukrainian intelligence also shows that the occupiers have significant communication problems. It has also been difficult for them to evacuate defeated Russian units.
As a reminder, the Russian army has a direct order to shoot civilians in Ukraine. The SSU has released a video confession from a detained soldier confirming this. The detainee took part in the siege of Kharkiv in the first days of the Russian invasion.
