Well-known coffee shop chain Starbucks suspends its activities in Russia due to the Russian military aggression against Ukraine.

Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson reported about this in a letter to partners, the text of which is posted on the official Starbucks website.

"We condemn Russia's horrific attacks on Ukraine and sympathize with all those affected. We will continue to monitor the development of these tragic events, and today we decided to suspend all activities in Russia, including the shipment of all Starbucks products," he stated.

Founded in 1971, Starbucks Coffee Company is a leading coffee roaster and retailer with a chain of more than 34,000 stores. It has been present in Russia since 2007, and at the end of 2021, more than 100 coffee shops were operating in the country.

Coca-Cola Company has also announced that it is suspending activities in Russia in response to its attack on Ukraine. It was reported by CNBC, based on the statement of the company's representatives.

"Our hearts go out to the people who are experiencing the unconscious consequences of these tragic events in Ukraine. We will continue to monitor and assess the situation as circumstances evolve," the company said.

McDonald's have also announced today that they will "temporarily close" their Russian restaurants.
