Russia must be wholly disconnected from the SWIFT system. According to Reuters, British Foreign Secretary Liz Trass stated this during a joint press conference with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Washington.
According to Liz Trass, Western countries should tighten sanctions, including complete Russia's exclusion from SWIFT.
The British Foreign Secretary also called on the G7 countries to abandon Russian oil and gas.
On March 2, the European Union decided to disconnect seven Russian banks from the SWIFT system, but the largest bank in Russia, "Sberbank", was not among them.
According to Bloomberg, Germany insists on excluding Sberbank from sanctioned banks.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, called on Germany to impose stricter sanctions against Russia. In his article for Die Welt, Kuleba suggested abandoning Russian energy, disconnecting Sberbank from SWIFT, freezing the correspondent accounts of Russian banks and companies, and banning Russian ships from entering European ports.
