General Staff: the enemy is concentrating on trying to encircle Kharkiv and reach the frontier on the Dnipro River

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated in its summary that as of noon on 9 March, Russia had significantly reduced its advance pace but did not abandon the offensive.

The Russian occupier is losing military personnel and equipment. The personnel are demoralized; they surrender or make attempts of desertion.

The enemy continues to focus its efforts on encircling Kyiv, capturing Sumy, Kharkiv, Mariupol, and Mykolayiv, providing a land corridor between the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the Russian mainland. It does not stop trying to reach the administrative borders of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

The formation of enemy reserves in the permanent deployment points continues to transfer them to specific areas in our country further.

Due to the fierce resistance of the Kherson's residents, the occupiers are trying to impose an administrative-police regime, so they introduced Rosgvardiya units in the Kherson region, which illegally detained more than 400 Ukrainian citizens.

In the Volynskyy direction, the enemy does not carry out offensive actions. However, the occupiers' RSGs are highly likely to commit acts of sabotage at military facilities and civilian infrastructure in the Rivne and Lviv regions.

In the Poliskyy direction, the enemy is acting with the help of separate units of the 29th, 35th, and 36th Combined Arms Armies of the Pacific Fleet and the Airborne Forces of the Russian Federation. After an unsuccessful offensive, a significant number of the occupiers' strike group units suffered losses and hastily withdrew to recovery areas. The enemy doesn't usually evacuate their combat equipment.

According to available information, the enemy is regrouping to prepare for another attempt to take Kyiv. After an unsuccessful offensive in the Fastiv direction, the enemy is trying to resume offensive operations in this direction.

In the Siverskyy direction, the enemy is trying to resume the offensive with the help of separate units of 2 and 41 Combined Arms Armies and 90 tank divisions of the Central Military District.

The enemy made crossing over the river Trubizh using the forces of BTGs, blocked the highway E95 in the area of Zalissya. It suffered losses on the outskirts of Chernihiv and other directions. To restore the group's fighting capacity, the occupiers transferred BTGs from the 55th Guards Motor Rifle Brigade of 41 combined arms armies of the Central Military District from the operational reserve to the territory of Ukraine.

In the Slobozhanskyy direction, the enemy tries to hold the frontier from Sievierodonetsk to Sumy using separate units of 1st Guards Tank Army (up to 11 BTGs), the 20th Combined Arms Army (up to 8 BTGs), the 6th Combined Arms Army (up to 3 BTGs) of the Western Military District, the 14th Army Corps of the Northern Fleet (up to BTGs). The primary efforts are focused on trying to surround the city of Kharkiv and reach the frontier on the Dnipro River. The occupiers are preparing for the attack on Sumy. The enemy is concentrating army aircraft to ensure airborne assault.

In the Donetsk direction, the 1st, 2nd Army Corps and separate units of the 150th Rifle Division of the 8th Combined Arms Army (up to 7 BTGs) are trying to continue offensive operations in the previously selected areas to reach the administrative borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

In the Tavriyskyy direction, the enemy holds the frontier from Kherson to Rozivka with the help of separate units from the 49th Combined Arms Army, the 22nd Army Corps, the 20th Motor Rifle Division of the 8th Combined Arms Army and the Airborne Troops (up to 17 BTGs). The enemy failed at attempts to force the Pivdennyy Buh River. The occupiers use Kherson International Airport to base combat aircraft.

In the Pivdennyy Buh operational area, the Russian occupiers are holding the frontier from Kherson to Kakhovka. The Ukrainian army stopped separate units of the 49th Combined Armed Army of the Southern Military District northeast of Mykolayiv along the Inhul River.
