As a result of the hostile actions of the Russian occupants, the Chernobyl nuclear power plant was completely cut off from electricity.
According to Ukrenergo’s Telegram channel.
The combat continues, which currently makes it impossible to repair and restore power.
“Ukrenergo will monitor the situation and inform about all changes,” the statement read.
As reported earlier, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) lost remote data transmission from safeguards monitoring systems installed at the Chornobyl NPP, seized by Russia.
So far, operations with nuclear materials at the Chernobyl NPP have been suspended. Decommissioned nuclear reactors and radioactive waste facilities are located on the site. The regulator says it can only communicate with nuclear power plants by e-mail.
IAEA said in the statement that its Director-General Grossi has expressed his readiness to travel to the Chornobyl NPP to secure the commitment to the safety and security of all Ukraine’s nuclear facilities.
Chornobyl NPP’s technical personnel of 210 works all the time since the capture, Russia does not allow to replace them. The staff has limited access to water, food and medicine.
