Ukraine is ready to negotiate an end to the war with Russia but is not going to give up its independence and integrity. Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak said during the interview with Ukrayinska Pravda.
According to Yermak, the authorities have all the information about possible behavior scenarios of the Russian army in Ukraine, and Ukraine is preparing to continue the struggle. However, the president also understands the importance of peace negotiations.
"The President says that we are ready for negotiations. Even today, foreign journalists asked me what compromises are we ready for and so on. I told them that we were ready to talk, to meet. But there are definitely no compromises for us when it comes to our independence, our territorial integrity, our sovereignty, our freedom," Yermak said.
The head of the presidential office added that Ukraine still doesn’t understand some of Russia's demands, such as "denazification". According to Yermak, the Ukrainian army has shown its strength and now the Ukrainian diplomacy must do so.
"For me, this is a mystery (the meaning of "denazification"). So far, what is happening to our country, I see exactly as denazification — but in the sense of fighting our whole nation. I do not understand the other meaning. If they (Russia) can explain what they mean during the negotiations, I will be able to tell you…We will continue to fight to end this war as soon as possible but on our Ukrainian terms," Yermak summed up.
Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine also explained how the work of the presidential office has changed during the war.
