"Despite the callsign "79", he was often called Fedorovich. Colonel Valery Gudz since 2014 went from platoon commander to kombat and brigade commander. When he was promoted/transfered from the 24th Brigade in 2020, we personally saw the tears of officers. Because to serve with Fedorovich, just to know him and to be around him was an honor. Yesterday, 12 March, Valeriy Fedorovich Gudz was killed in Luhansk region. He wasn't supposed to be there, but he decided to fight: he took command of the unit and, as a real hero, accepted the battle. Honors to the Colonel! His home-town Boryspil and all Ukraine will take revenge on you as long as we are alive!"

Valeriy Gudz served in the 79th Airborne Brigade, where he resigned in 2001 as a major. In 2014 he returned to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, became a platoon commander of a mechanized brigade, later headed the company. In September 2014, Valeriy Gudz headed the 3rd Battalion of the 72 separate mechanized brigade, in July 2015 he became Deputy Brigade Commander. Since 3 December 2017 - Commander of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Daniel. In August 2020, Colonel Valeriy Gudz became a student of the National Defence University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi. People's Hero of Ukraine.
