According to the English Premier League press service, it has officially dismissed the Russian owner of "Chelsea," Roman Abramovich, from the post of the club's director.
"Following the imposition of sanctions by the British government, the Premier League has dismissed Roman Abramovich from the post of director of Chelsea.
The council's decision does not affect the club's ability to train and play its matches under a government license. The license expires on 31 May 2022," the Premier League said in a statement.
Due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the British government froze all assets of the Russian businessman and banned his entry into the country at the present time.
Abramovich bought Chelsea in the summer of 2003. Since then, the club from Stamford Bridge has twice won the Champions League and Europa League, and five times won the English Premier League.
