Ukraine reinstates the limit on the export of foreign currency

Ukraine reinstates limits on the amount of foreign cash currency taken out of the country. The National Bank of Ukraine made this decision on March 13. Ukrainian citizens traveling abroad cannot take in cash more than the equivalent of 10 thousand euro. National Bank emphasizes that this is an emergency decision in the current context.

If the citizens have personal cash reserves over the limit, they must show the following documents at the border:

  • proof of withdrawal from a personal account
  • currency exchange certificate
  • certificate of purchase of bank metals.

NBU made the decision in collaboration with other government structures to prevent capital drain, said the bank. The Ukrainians must also declare all foreign currency over the equivalent of 10 thousand euro as they cross the border - this rule remains unchanged.
