Ramzan Kadyrov's militants wanted to seize an orphanage in Kyiv to blackmail the Ukrainian authorities.

The Adviser to the Head of the MIA (Ministry of Internal Affairs), Vadym Denysenko, reported it.

The day before, Kadyrov released a video that he said should prove his presence in Ukraine, near the capital, and show that he had entered an active phase of the war. The video was shot indoors, in a place without windows and light. The MIA analyzed the footage and concluded that the Kadyrovtsi planned to take the residents of the orphanage hostage.

"I have no authority to comment on whether Kadyrov is in Ukraine, but the MIA analyzed a video posted by the leader of the Chechen militants. They concluded that the Kadyrovtsi planned to take the residents of the orphanage hostage and then blackmail Ukraine and the whole world. It was in one of the orphanages in the Kyiv region where they shot their video. Fortunately, the children were evacuated earlier, "Denysenko said.

He also noted that the purpose of Kadyrov's video was to show that he was fighting with his militants. As it turned out, his units are mainly used only as barrier troops. The emergence of such troops, in particular, became known from the interceptions of conversations of the Russian military.

On 13 March 2022, Anton Herashchenko, an Adviser to the Minister of MIA, released a video in which Kadyrov discusses the kidnapping of Ukrainian children with his "special forces." One Russian military reports to Kadyrov that they "immediately boldly approached the orphanage, went inside, but, unfortunately, the children were not there."

On 5 March 2022, the Chechen military of the Russian army (also known as Kadyrovtsi) seized a psychoneurological medical institution in the town of Borodianka, Kyiv region. The militants mined all approaches to the institution, hiding behind the patients and staff members of the institution. They conducted artillery fire on the positions of the Ukrainian army from there.

Later, the Ukrainian military had released people who stayed in this medical institution.
