The United States does not rule out the possibility of implementing a total embargo on trade with the Russian Federation.

This was announced by US Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

In his interview with CNBC, Adeyemo said that the United States "is still considering a total trade embargo and blocking Russia's access to international waterways."

He also noted that the United States, in particular, is discussing a ban on imports of nickel, uranium, and titanium from Russia, as well as a ban on "cryptocurrencies of Russian financial organizations."

On 12 March 2022, the US Department of Treasury published a list of people subject to new US sanctions, including 10 top VTB Bank officials, oligarch Viktor Vekselberh, 12 members of Russian Parliament, and the family of Putin's spokesman Dmytro Pieskov.

On 11 March 2022, the United States banned the supply of luxury goods to Russia and imports from Russia of alcohol, diamonds, and seafood.

On the same day, US President Joe Biden signed a decree banning the import of dollar bills into Russia.
