President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, congratulated Ukrainians on the "purely Ukrainian holiday" - Volunteer Day.
"Today, we celebrate our purely Ukrainian holiday - Volunteer Day. We can instantly unite while going through ordeals, find common ground and fight together. That makes our Ukrainian character. Please, agree that it has happened. We may not notice each other in everyday life. However, when we see a threat to our lifestyle, to our spirit, when we see a threat to Ukraine, our state, we do not hesitate for a moment if we are Ukrainians," the President said.
In his opinion, the ability of Ukrainians to unite is a precondition for winning the war.
"We are uniting. We do our best to protect everything that is ours. Ukrainians don't have to be persuaded to volunteer or encouraged to start helping each other. Strong support of the Armed Forces from all the people of Ukraine, sincere volunteer movement, mass joining the territorial defence, solidarity of all our people - these are the preconditions for victory, preconditions for the liberation of our entire country. The only and best one," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Today, the President noted, all the people of Ukraine are volunteers.
"Ukraine for us is not just a territory, as for the occupiers. They do not distinguish anything here, do not understand anything. That is why for them, all this is just a target. For us, Ukraine is millions of happy moments, native symbols, memorable places. We feel this land. For us, Ukraine is our life, which is why millions of people have come to the defence of our state today. That is why today, we are all volunteers - all those who defend Ukraine, our children, those who defend our future.
To all who feel this free call. A call to defend Ukraine.
To all diplomats - official and unofficial. Who volunteers in battles or the information troops. Who protects the roads and the cities. Everyone who helps with military technology keeps the business, supplies the necessary goods and products, saves and treats people under any circumstances, works in transport, and provides connection and repairs networks.
I am grateful to everyone. And I sincerely congratulate you!
Every volunteer. Each of the millions who work together to win," the President summed up.
Volunteer Day has been celebrated in Ukraine annually since 2017.
