The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valeriy Zaluzhnyy, addressed the nation, promising to take revenge on the death of every Ukrainian.
“20 days of open war. 20 days of resilience and heroism. 20 days of fighting. Ukrainian Armed Forces are fulfilling their tasks. We stopped the aggressor, deployed parts of the reserves, and are launching counterattacks in certain directions - he said. Unfortunately, we are suffering losses. They are several times less than the enemy’s losses. But the life and health of each of our soldiers are priceless. My condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers. I promise we will avenge each brother and sister in arms, peaceful Ukrainians and our children.”
On March 12, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine lost about 1300 servicemen in war with Russia.
There is no exact information on the number of civilian casualties. More than 2,000 Ukrainians have died in bombings and shelling in Mariupol alone.
